Dorothy Elizabeth Monroe, age 99, of Temple died Friday, February 17, 2012 in a local nursing center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Monroe was born on June 24, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Michael George and Alice Locklear Faldmo. She married Lester George Monroe on November 11, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was a graduate of Mills College in Oakland, California. During her life she lived in Utah, California, Fort Worth, Fredericksburg and finally in Temple. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Tarver and husband, Jack of Temple, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
