

Dorothy Scott, age 96, of Belton, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at her home in Belton. She was born in Colorado on May 21, 1920 the daughter of Sherman and Lois Boren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 10am at Trinity Church 7101 West Adams Ave. followed by a burial at Bellwood Memorial Park, Temple, Texas. Temple. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd Temple. Dorothy worked as an executive secretary for Diamond Shamrock for many years in Amarillo before moving to Belton. She was a member of Trinity Church in Temple and a former president of Aglow Women’s Fellowship. She mentored young girls through Treehouse Ministries, and held weekly prayers groups at her home in Belton. Many will remember her as a faithful Christian prayer warrior. Dorothy also enjoyed oil painting and especially painting porcelain china pieces. She is survived by her son Jerry Scott and his wife Marca of Belton, three grandchildren; Emily Banks and her husband Ron of Fort Worth, Justin Scott of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Marissa Scott of Belton, and three great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Jadyn Scott and Tucker Banks. She is also survived by her sister Jean Shinkle and husband Jim of Belton. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands C.B. Porter Scott and John Knight, her parents, and 4 sisters.
