Doyle Gene Smith

Funeral services for Doyle Gene Smith, 78, of Temple will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at The Worship Center of First Baptist Church with Dr. Martin Knox officiating. Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Smith was born November 7, 1932 in Colorado City, Texas to Freeman Smith and Nettie Redden Smith. He graduated from Colorado City High School. He married Carol Clark July 11, 1952. He moved to Temple in 1957. He was a Civil Engineer having worked for Freese and Nichols; Forrest and Cotton and retired from Roming, Parker and Kasberg Engineers. He was also Personnel Director of the City of Temple. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Fisher Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife Carol Smith of Temple; two sons Glenn Smith and his wife Paula of Temple, David Smith and his wife Charolette of La Feria; two daughters Debra Herzog and her husband Lloyd of Rogers and Vickie Gerhart and her husband Charles of Salado; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Texas Baptist Men; Children @ Heart Foundation in Round Rock or to First Baptist Church of Temple. Scanio Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
