
DR. R.S. FILLMORE, JR. Dr. R.S. Fillmore, Jr., 88 of Temple died Monday October 16, 2006 in a Temple hospital. Graveside Services will be held at the Morris Chapel Cemetery in Sanford, North Carolina. Dr. Fillmore was born in Fort Worth, Texas the son of R.S. and Kathryn Hattersheid Fillmore, Sr. He was a University of Texas graduate earning his B.A. in 1939. He received his M.D. from the University of Texas Galveston in 1942. He did his internship at Queens Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1943. He served his residency at the Graduate School of the University of Pennsylvania from 1950 to 1951. He was associated with the Watts Hospital in Durham, North Carolina from 1951 to 1954. In 1954 Dr. Fillmore moved to Temple and joined Kings Daughters Hospital Clinic working there until his retirement in 1989. He married Vernelle Cameron June 4, 1955 she preceded him in death December 27, 1997. Survivors are his son R. Cameron Fillmore of Waco, Texas and by one daughter Martha Fillmore Dickens of Fort Worth, Texas. A family visitation will be held from 5 until 7 PM Friday October 20, 2006 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Kings Daughters Hospital Auxiliary 1901 S.W. H.K. Dodgen Loop Temple, Texas 76502. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple is in charge of arrangements.
