

Edward A. Miller Jr., 81, of Belton died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 31, 2011 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Kissa Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Miller was born July 22, 1930 in Archer County, Texas to Edward A. and Thelma Louise Fortenberry Miller, Sr. He married Dorothy Gilmore on July 9, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas; she preceded him in death August 9, 2002. A son Michael Edward Miller preceded him in death June 10, 2004. Mr. Miller was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked for Southwestern Bell for 40 years and served as president of the Communication Workers Association. He was a master mason of Midland Lodge 623 AF & AM in Midland, TX. a member of American Legion Post 133 in Temple, the Good Sams Travel Club, the Telephone Pioneers, and the Texas singles association. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Miller Vanderwilt of Houston and Ginger Miller of Temple; companion, Earlene Schmidt of Belton; step children, Rita and Harry Williams of Belton, Sandy and Tim Lay of Belton, and Don Hess of Pensacola, Florida; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren Memorials may be made to the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 4801 Grover Ave., Austin, Texas 78756.
