
Edward Vargas, Sr., age 58, of Temple died Monday, June 26, 2006 in a Waco hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Friday, June 30, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Hilario Guajardo as celebrant. Burial will be at Bellwood Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Thursday, June 29, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow. Mr. Vargas was born August 30, 1947 in Bartlett to Pedro and Maria Vargas. He was a lifetime resident of Temple. He married Amelia Cortez on February 18, 1969. He was employed as a truck driver for Wilsonart International. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mr. Vargas was preceded in death by his father and one son, Edward Vargas, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Amelia of Temple, his mother, Maria Vargas of Belton, three daughters, Tanya Vargas of Austin, Panfila Vargas and Magdalena Vargas both of Temple, two sons, Pete Vargas and Angelo Vargas both of Temple, five grandchildren, Sage Vargas, Joseph Vargas, Ethan Vargas Rodriguez, Jessica Vargas and Amber Vargas and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are six sisters, Bessie Bautista of Belton, Dolores Guajardo of Temple, Dorothy Mendoza of Hewitt, Donna Lary of Fort Worth, Irene Vargas of Belton and Kathryn Vargas of Belton and three brothers, Joe Vargas of Temple, Amos Vargas of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Almond Bargas of San Antonio.
