

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00am at Salado Cemetery in Salado, Texas.
E.L. was a 1945 graduate of Salado High School, served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, retired after 40 plus years with the Santa Fe Railroad, and was a longtime member of The First Lutheran Church in Temple.
He is survived by his children, Robin Melvin and husband Charles Studor of Austin, Sharla Winkler and husband Les of Salado, Michael Melvin and fiance Heidi Beck of Temple, and David Melvin of Temple, 8 grandchildren, Jessica Hannafin and husband Danny of Driftwood, Jason Winkler and wife Jennifer of Salado, Tyler Winkler and wife Erika of Temple, Macie Melvin of Austin, Eilene Melvin of Austin, Abe Studor and wife Brittany of Austin, Ben Studor of Austin, and Emily Melvin of Temple, 6 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brenleigh, Jack, Reid, Oliver, and Selena. He is also survived by a brother Kenneth Melvin of Dallas.
E.L. was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ann Melvin, parents Roy Atlas and Macie Melvin, brothers, Aubrey, Jack, Billy Joe, and John David Melvin and a sister Geneva Castor.
