Emma Viola (O’Berg) Buckley, age 96, of Temple, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at a local care center. She was born on December 20, 1924 in Bloomington, Texas the daughter of Hans Robert and Albina Viola (Lesikar) O’Berg.
A graveside Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00am at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Emma married Charles H. Buckley on September 24, 1943 in Fort Bragg, N.C., she was an Army wife and having lived in Japan, Germany, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Oklahoma before settling back in Texas.
She was a graduate Temple High School and of Temple College, she was a former active member of the Little River United Methodist Church, current member of the First United Methodist Church in Temple, was a member of the Little River Academy Family and Community Education Club and the SPJST, worked at the Little River Post Office, and volunteered at Academy ISD and Baylor Scott and White Medical Center. Emma was also well known for her delicious homemade bread and cinnamon rolls.
She is survived by her sons, Bob Buckley and wife Brenda of Little River Academy, Texas and Jack Buckley and wife Jan of Spring, Texas, grandchildren, Jonathan Buckley and wife Monaca of Temple, Texas, Christopher Buckley of Deer Park, Texas, Jessica Mosley and husband Michael of Temple, Texas, Bradley Cannary and wife Cami of Spring, Texas, and Jennifer Koski of Humble, Texas, daughter-in-law Joyce Buckley, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. She is also survived by a brother Howard O’Berg of Marion, Texas, and 3 sisters, Lottie Ann Potter of Marion, Texas, Janet Thomas of Linwood, Kansas, and Judy O’Berg of Schertz, Texas.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles H. Buckley, son Conrad F. Buckley, grandson Charles A. Buckley, and a brother Johnny O’Berg.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Emma’s name to Love of Christ Food Pantry in Temple, Little River United Methodist Church, or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
