Essie Hampton Coleman, 95, of Temple died Friday, June 27, 2008 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Seaton Cemetery with Rev. Jakie Shirley officiating. Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Coleman was born June 10, 1913 in Guntersville, Alabama to Henry Lumpkin and Martha McClendon Hampton. She married Robert O. Coleman in 1930 he preceded her in death. She had lived in Waco, Harlingen, and moved to Temple in 1970. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple and had worked for J. C. Penney Co. for over thirty-five years. She was also preceded in death by a son Bob Coleman in 2007, her parents, and three brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Martha Coleman Chlapek and husband Ed of Temple; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
