Mrs. Spurlin was born in Moody to August Henry Houy and Lydia Wilhemina Fischgrabe. She married E.P. Spurlin July 18, 1948. She has lived in Temple since 1948. She attended Durham Business College in Austin. She was a secretary at First National Bank and was also a secretary for the Association of First Federal Savings and Loan, where she retired in 1987. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Temple and Bell County Sportsman Club. Survivors include her husband E.P. Spurlin of Temple; one sister Lydia Laverne Coufal of Temple, two sister in laws Bessie Houy of Temple and Helen Spurlin of Temple. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by one brother Daniel Houy and two brother in laws Bill Spurlin and Julius Coufal.
