Fred Poteet, Jr.

Fred Poteet, Jr., age 90 of Temple, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in a local nursing center. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 18 at First Christian Church in Temple with Dr. Don Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Poteet was born July 12, 1922 in Temple to Fred and Mary Dunlap Poteet. He graduated from Temple High School. He was an Eagle Scout. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during WW II. He married Lois Waters on April 15, 1967 in Temple. He worked over 30 years at the V. A. Hospital in Temple. He volunteered at the Temple Visitors Center for nine years. He was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of the Knights of Pythias. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lee A. Poteet. Survivors include his wife, Lois W. Poteet of Temple, one son, Fred Poteet III and wife, Deborah of Georgetown, one grandson, Jerry Poteet of Scottsdale, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church; Music Fund, Projector Fund or Capital Fund.
