A mass of Christian burial for Gary Frank Fuchs, 54, of Rogers will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at St. Luke Catholic Church with the Rev. Larry Heimsoth officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts. Visitation 5:30-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2008 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Willie Luna. Gary died Saturday, January 26, at his home. Gary was born September 23, 1953 in Cameron, TX. He grew up in a sharecropper family that moved around the Buckholts and Rogers area. His family moved to Calvert and he graduated from Calvert High School in 1972. He received his degree in Air Conditioning from Texas State Technical Institute. He married Terry Zajicek in 1976. He had been a co-owner of Milam Electric, delivered for Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and worked for Dorner Construction. In 1979, Gary and Terry purchased a farm on the Little River and raised wheat, cattle and pecans. He also did electrical wiring as an independent contractor. Gary was a source of wisdom for everyone that had a close relationship with him, along with being a true friend even through the toughest of times. Gary judged a person on their character instead of their appearance or what someone else thought of them. Gary was a gifted musician who played bass guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, accordion, and fiddle, as well as pretty much anything with strings on it. Gary played with several country, polka, and bluegrass bands throughout his life, such as the Rhinestiens, Social Combinations, Fox on the Run, and 437 South. Gary played with his uncle, Milton Wright and Friends, at the Buckholts Hee Haw every year to benefit the fire department. Gary also used his gift to make beautiful music for the Lord on Sunday mornings at St. Luke's and at St. Matthew's. Gary loved playing with Grady, Charlie and all the folks at St. Luke's and he loved playing with Angelo, Donna and Randy at St. Matthew's. Gary was a part of the founding of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Rogers and helped construct the building in Rogers where he attended until his death. Gary was also a first degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3444 in Rogers, Texas. Gary was blessed with two beloved grandchildren over the past year and a half and he was present at the birth of each. The night before his death as luck would have it, he got to spend time with Madeline and Kendall and both grandbabies waved good bye, although we didn't realize it would be for the last time. Pa Pa is in heaven now and we will all miss him so much. Survivors are his wife Terry; a son, Jason Fuchs and his wife Sara and their daughter Madeline of Temple; a daughter, Kristin Schiller and her husband Stephen and their son Kendall of Hewitt; two brothers, Ronny Fuchs and Larry Fuchs, both of Hillsboro; parents Ernest and Doris Fuchs of Hillsboro. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Alfred Fuchs. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, P.O. Box 69, Rogers, TX 76569.
