

George T. Connorty, 86, of Temple died Wednesday October 29, 2008 in a Temple hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Catholic Church with Rev. Don Loftin officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Connorty was born May 9, 1922 in Temple to George Patrick and Agnes Horan Connorty. He was a graduate of Temple High School in 1940. In 1942 he entered the United States Army Air Corps and was stationed in May of 1944 to combat duty in England with the Eighth Air Force for 15 months, being discharged October 25, 1945. He married Anthonette (Ann) Scardino on February 14, 1946 in Waco. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a wire chief in communication for 45 years, retiring in January of 1987. He was the treasurer of the Temple-Santa Fe Employees Credit Union for 44 years. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Anthonette (Ann) Connorty of Temple; one son, Jim Connorty and wife Jacque of Temple; one daughter, Linda Barnes and husband Gene of Temple; two grandchildren, Lisa Shed and husband Kody and Chris Connorty all of Temple; two great-grandchildren, Rachel Shed and Grant Shed.
