
Master Sgt. George J. Foster, Sr., U. S. Army Ret., age 92, of Temple died Thursday, March 6, 2008 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Soerens and Dr. Tom Henderson officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Temple Garden of Memories. Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Foster was born March 11, 1915 in Alton, Kansas to Ed and Grace Spargo Foster. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served in the United States Army for over 20 years retiring in 1964. He received the Purple Heart and several other medals while serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. After his military service he was employed by the Veterans hospital in Temple retiring after 20 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1820 and Disable American Veterans Post #37 both of Temple. Survivors include three Daughters, Dona Brown, Sue Dukatnik, and Ellen Ballou all of Temple; one son, Johnny Foster of Temple; 5 Grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Foster and James Foster and a grandson, Darrell Foster.
