George C. Thompson Jr.

Funeral services for George C. Thompson Jr., 80, of Temple will be held at 9:30 A.M. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Deacon Jerry Klement officiating. Burial will be in Pendleton Cemetery. Mr. Thompson died Monday at a Care Center in Temple. Mr. Thompson was born June 7, 1930 in Pendleton to George C. Thompson Sr. and Susie Rebecca Quine Thompson. He served in the Navy. He married Rita E. Jackson August, 1953. He graduated from Temple High School, Temple Junior College and Baylor University. He taught school in Donna, Sonora and Belton. He also operated a Boy's Camp during the summer. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson John Thompson. Survivors include his wife Rita Jackson Thompson of Temple; two sons James Q. Thompson of Beeville and John O. Thompson of Temple; one daughter Melissa A. Thompson Billings of Oklahoma; one sister Robbie Jane Thompson Bargas of San Antonio; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
