

Funeral services for Gilbert Wiese, 98, of Temple will be held at 2pm on Thursday, November 2nd at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Darin Pound and Rev. Elwin Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at the Moody Cemetery. Mr. Wiese died Sunday in a Temple Living Center. Mr. Wiese was born in the Buckhorn Community to Charles Wiese and Lena Wellman Wiese. He attended Buckhorn School. He married Juanita Whittemore September 28, 1939. She preceded him in death August 28, 2000. He married Kay McNeely Duckworth in March 1, 2003. He lived in the Temple area his entire life. He worked as a poultry supervisor for Feeder’s Supply Company, Fletcher Enterprises, and Western Hatcheries. He was known to many customers as “Doc” and took great pride in his work. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, a church he loved. He was a board member and loved the music and fellowship. Survivors include his wife Kay Wiese of Temple; three sons Donnie Wiese and his wife Elizabeth of Richardson, Gary Wiese of Granbury, and Mark Wiese and his wife Sharla of Salado; six grandchildren Lori Wiese of Houston, Kelli Wiese of Richardson, Morgan Wiese of San Antonio, Christopher Wiese and his wife Kitty of Ft. Worth, Courtney Wiese of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jake Wiese of Ft. Worth; steps sons Paul Duckworth and family of Highland Village, TX and David Duckworth and family of Puyallup, Washington. Gilbert was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He loved to tease and be teased. He was very proud of his thick, perfectly groomed, wavy hair. He cherished his family, especially his six grandchildren. The family would like to thank Cornerstone Gardens and Scott and White Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Gilbert in his final days. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, November 1st at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
