

Gladys Annie Wilde, age 86 of Temple, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Saturday, February 7, at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Rev. James Ekeocha and Deacon Bill Smetana as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery at Westphalia. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Mrs. Wilde was born August 8, 1928 in Lott to John Smetana and Mathilda Kahlig Smetana. She graduated from Rosebud High School and lived in Temple all of her adult life. She married Walter Henry Wilde on October 19, 1948 in Burlington. She worked for Bandy Laboratory and Vets Company for 29 years retiring in 1994. Mrs. Wilde was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women's Society, served as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the bereavement committee and a member of the prayer chain. She was also a member of ABWA and the Tanglefoot TEEA. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 24, 1999 and her brother, Marvin Smetana. Survivors include one son, Walter Joe Wilde and wife, Edla of Rogers and one daughter, Barbara Ann Curler and husband, Tom of Belton, sister, Evelyn Smetana Kelarek and husband, Edmond of Temple, granddaughter, Rachel Wilde of Waco and grandson, Luke Wilde of Austin. Pallbearers are Luke Wilde, Dennis Wilde, Kenny Kelarek, Kevin Kelarek, Kelly Kelarek and Layne Smetana. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Catholic Church Building Fund or charity of one's choice.
