

Gloria Helen Jacques Collier, age 88 of Troy, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at Belfalls Cemetery at 2:30PM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 with Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Family visitation and reception will follow at the Oenaville Community Center. Gloria was born August 3, 1925 in Belfalls, Texas, the daughter of DeWitt Clinton Jacques and Dolly Rector Jacques. She married George W. Collier of Belfalls on October 6, 1945 in Temple. They lived all their married life in Belfalls and Troy. They owned and operated Collier Brothers' Cotton Gins and farmed in Bell and Falls counties. She also worked at Hendler's in downtown Temple for several years. She was a member of the Troy Baptist Church. She was always involved in the Troy schools serving as an officer in the PTA and school room mother for several years. She was affectionately called Memaw by her grandchildren and many of the kids in Troy. It was a special treat to come over and eat homemade pancakes or pumpkin bread after school. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Clinton Jacques of Durango and Charles Jacques of Lake Belton, and her husband of 45 years. She is survived by daughter, Jacqueline Collier of Georgetown; son, George W. Collier, Jr. of Troy; two grandchildren, Trey Weldon Collier and Colby Eugene Collier, both of Troy; sisters-in-law, Frances Jacques of Lake Belton and Mildred Collier Lancaster of Temple; numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity or organization.
