
Gordon D. Burgar, 90, of Temple, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. John E. Abbey officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Burgar was born February 29, 1916 in Deerfield, Michigan to C. Bernard and Anna McKillop Burgar. Gordon served in WWII with the 2nd Armored Division of the U.S. Army. He owned and operated an appliance and repair service in Temple for over 40 years. Gordon enjoyed gardening and creating innovations in his workshop. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Mr. Burgar was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Burgar and Donald Burgar of Temple; one brother, John Burgar and two sisters, Janet Lodico and Dora Adams. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Olejnik Burgar of Temple; three sons, Dean Austin, J.D. of Anaheim, California, John Burgar, Sr., Lt. Col. USAF Ret. of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and Charles Burgar, M.D. and wife Joy of Belton, Texas; two sisters, Ruth McFarlane of Michigan and Catherine Deppman of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.
