Mr. Harold L. Finkenbinder, 70, of Moffat, Texas, went home to be with Jesus after a long but heroic battle with cancer, on March 8, 2017. Mr. Finkenbinder was born to James and Nada Finkenbinder on September 18, 1946, in Gatesville, Texas. He married Peggy West of Oglesby on June 4, 1966. He also served his country in the Us. Air Force from 1966-1970 during the Vietnam War. He was a butcher at Piggly Wiggly grocery store for 10 years then HEB, from which he retired after 29 years of service. He will be remembered for his strong faith in God, his generosity, his fun sense of humor, and his willingness to serve others. He truly lived out the verse, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He loved being outdoors, fishing, bird watching, and working in his garden. But his best love was talking. He never met a stranger, and he always had to tell you “one more thing.” He adored his three granddaughters, and he was very proud of them. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Finkenbinder, daughter Nikki Rodak and husband Randy of Temple, son Eric Finkenbinder and wife Elizabeth of Temple and granddaughters Kaitlyn, Kristin, and Laura, brother Kermit Finkenbinder and wife Fran of Waco, sister Diane Britton of McGregor, sister Brenda Lewallen of McGregor, sister Lisa Schermerhorn and husband Steve of Gatesville, and sister Lola Brinegar and husband James of Waco. A visitation will take place on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00AM at the funeral home with a burial to follow at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby.
