

Harold J. Andrews passed from this life in Temple, TX to his heavenly home on June 22, 2014. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:00am, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple, TX. Services are to be provided by the Rev. Norman Sisk and burial will be at Bellwood Memorial Park, Temple, TX. Visitation will be at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. He was born in Mounds, OK on December 6, 1924 to James Burns Andrews and Johnnie Poe Andrews and he married Frances E. Glass on August 21, 1943, shortly after entering the United States Army. They were married for 60 wonderful years. Survivors include one son, David Andrews and wife Linda of Georgetown, TX. Four grand children, Brian Andrews and wife Theda of Winnsboro, TX , Daryl Andrews of Jonesboro, AR, Tracy Carson and husband JC of Fort Worth, TX and Becca Graves and husband Chris of Georgetown, TX. Ten great grandchildren, including, Deanna Andrews, Chandler Andrews, Hunter Andrews, Noah Andrews, Sophia Andrews, Dylan Debevoise, Shelby Debevoise, Aby Graves, McKinley Graves, and Caedance Graves. Two sisters, Delores Bowden of Temple, TX and Peggy Barror of Great Falls MT. He was preceded in death by wife Frances Andrews on September 20, 2003 and one son, Donald Andrews on December 16, 1987. After leaving high school in The Grove, TX area, he served in the US Army in World War II and received five Battle Stars. Upon completion of his service in 1947, he returned to the Grove area and began work for HB Zachry Road Building as a heavy equipment operator constructing the base at Fort Hood, TX. Sometime later, he and his wife Frances took up full time residency in Fort Worth, TX. He went to work for Lydick Roofing CO. as a roofing laborer. He worked up the ranks to foreman of several large crews. Then in 1953 he went to work for Texas Electric Service Co. in its operations department. He worked his way up through the operations until in his middle to later years he was a control room operator handling and supervising the generation of power at The Handley Texas Power Complex. In 1983 he retired. In his earlier years he enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was associated with Boy Scouts of America.
