Helen Georgia Attas Creasey left our world for heaven on January 15, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born on July 9, 1923, in Temple, Texas to Birtie Faye Helbert of JoLee, Texas and Michael Attas of Athens, Greece. Helen attended San Marcos Baptist Academy from 1935 to 1936 and was in the 1940 graduating class of Temple High School. All of her youth and young adult life she worked in her father’s restaurants. It was at her father’s restaurant, the Moss Rose Café, where she met James Dean Creasey whom she wed on April 21, 1947. Helen was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church where she worked as a secretary before becoming a bank teller for over 20 years at Temple National Bank. Helen retired from banking in 1980 but continued into her 90s to balance her own check book “to the penny because banks make mistakes too”. She was raised during the depression where people had a clear distinction between what an individual needed and what an individual wanted. Helen was preceded in death by her father and mother; brother, Michael “Mickey” Attas, Jr. and her beloved husband James Dean Creasey, Sr. She is survived by her children Carla Creasey Kauppila of Temple, James Dean Creasey, Jr. and wife Karen of Dallas, Deborah Creasey Maspero of Georgetown, Howard Attas Creasey and wife Rose of The Woodlands. The joy of her life was her ten Grandchildren: Anna Marie Kauppila Morris, Eva Helen Kauppila, Megan Elizabeth Creasey, Laura Creasey Stout, Adrienne Renee Creasey, Jacob Alan Maspero, John Samuel “Sam” Maspero, Nathaniel Adam Creasey, Benjamin Andrew Creasey and Bernadette Marie Creasey and four Great Grandchildren: Julian Attas Creasey, Gideon Alex Creasey, Nolan James Stout, and Case Isiah Dunn. She was proud of them all and each had a very special place in her heart of gold. Helen was a true friend to many and offered a helping hand to all she met. Her wonderful sense of humor, forth right comments, generosity, fiery disposition and passionate sense of justice will be missed by all who knew her. The home health care of our beloved Mother by her Children and Grandchildren was an honor and privilege but it would not have been possible without Mrs. Ricky Hernandez and daughter-in-law Dani Hernandez. We owe a special thank you to the Hernandez family for their sacrifice, love, devotion and care for our Mother. Special thanks are also extended to Hospice Nurse Kay Rathgeber. The celebration of life for Helen Georgia will be held at her home Saturday January 23rd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital and/or Ronald McDonald House.
