
Helen McCormick Roasa passed from this world on June 18,2013. She was born on October 10,1910 near Oscar, Texas to James Robert and Anna Julia Jedlicka McCormick. She lived her entire life in the Temple/Academy area. She graduated from Temple High School in 1930 and opened a music store in downtown Temple. Helen worked at Camp Hood during WWII. For the majority of her career, she worked for the Veterans Administration hospital in Temple. She is a member of First Lutheran Church in Temple where she taught Sunday school for many years. She married Floyd Roasa on January 19th,1944 and were married until his death in 1965. She is survived by 2 children, Laura Sue Ballard of Daingerfield, Texas, and Mike Roasa of Sparks, Texas, her four grandchildren, Jana Ezernack of Tyler, Texas, Ty Harvey of Oneonta, New York, Lance Roasa of Woodland Park, Colorado and Lane Roasa of Longview, Texas, and three great grand children Alex Ezernack of Tyler, Texas and Ian Roasa of Woodland Park, Colorado, Clyde Harvey of Oneonta, New York. She is also survived by Dann Baker of San Marcos, Texas and her long-time caretaker Christina Seniceros of Temple, Texas. After her retirement she traveled the Western United States, with her sisters and friends. She always had a passion for cooking, sewing, bingo and 42. She has written a memoir of her life and cookbook of her recipes for her friends and family.
