Hortencia "Tina" Saldua Piedra

Hortencia "Tina" Piedra, age 51 of Temple, went to be with the Lord on Friday March 8, 2013 in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the funeral home and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Tina was born on November 3, 1961 in San Antonio, Texas to Miguel Saldua and Maria Francisca Rojas Saldua. She was a 20 plus year employee at E. R. Carpenter in Temple where she was a supervisor in the Cameron Branch department. She then worked in the human resources department at Macy's in Temple. Tina was a very loved and respected woman in the community and with the Temple High School band. She was a very proud mother, especially of her son Fabian, who is to attend the University of Texas in the fall after he graduates from Temple High School. Tina will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alice Saldua. Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Ramon Piedra, Sr. of Temple; two sons, Paul Vargas and wife Latisha of Belton and Fabian Vargas of Temple; a daughter, Gracie Jiminez and husband Rick of Temple; three sisters, Beatrice Alcoser and husband Daniel of Hutto, Diana Saldua of Temple and Maria "Wisa" Gutierrez of Temple; one brother, Joe Gutierrez of Baytown and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
