
Funeral services for Howard Lee Pierce, 69, of Val Verde will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Val Verde Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Denton, Rev. Daniel Williams and Rev. Raymond Tharp officiating. Burial will be in Val Verde Cemetery. Mr. Pierce died Friday in a Temple Living Center. Mr. Pierce was born in Val Verde to Urieland Lee Pierce and Almerta Gregory Pierce. He graduated from Sharp High School and Sam Houston University. He married Alice Tharp September 3, 1960. He lived in Houston for about 27 years and in California for 10 years before returning to Val Verde in 1996. He worked in the Comptroller Department of Texaco where he had worked as an Accountant, Personnel Manager and as Quality Coordinator. Survivors include his wife Alice Pierce of Val Verde; three daughters Tammy Rene Pierce of Val Verde, Debby Lynne McElroy and her husband Jeff of Knoxville, Tennessee and Amy Elizabeth Kelley and her husband Kyle of Sunnyvale; one brother Billy Franklin Pierce of Bartlett and five grandchildren Kristen, Trevan, Kathie, Courtney and Caleb.
