Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday January 5, 2022 at the Killeen Civic Center. Burial will be in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Chief Collier was born November 16, 1949 in Temple to Jack Krapes and Virginia Collier Krapes. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He married Dorothy Sefcik July 4, 1980. He was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church. He served as a Firefighter and Paramedic in Temple for twenty one years. He attended the first Paramedic School held in Temple. He then served as Fire Chief in Del Rio and in New Braunfels. He then taught Weapons of Mass Effect at Texas A & M University. He then served in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana as Fire Superintendent and then became the Fire Chief in Harker Heights in 2006. He retired from there in 2016 after 43 years in Fire Service. He was a member of the Texas Fire Association and International Association of Fire Chiefs and Texas EMS Advisory Council. He was also a member of Lions Club for 35 years.
Chief Collier was preceded in death by his daughter Melissa Collier Smart in 2008.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Collier of Killeen and one son Brian Collier and his wife Ashley of Bracketville; four grandchildren Carly Falcione, Callen Smart, Garett Martin and AnnaBelle Martin; five cousins Bill Collier, Linda Lancaster, Larry Lancaster, Jacqueline Collier, and Susan Collier..
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM Wednesday at Killeen Civic Center.
Memorials may be given to Oak Park United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.
