Jimmy was born in Waco, Texas, on December 26, 1956, to Jim and Marilyn Hicks. Jimmy was their only child, and he remained very close to his parents throughout his life. They moved to Temple, where he grew up in the Western Hills Addition and graduated from Temple High School in 1975.
He worked in the brewing industry in Temple for 36 years. He was employed with Gidden Distributing as a route salesman in 1980. In 1984, he began working for Jack Hilliard Distributing as a route salesman and retired as overall sales manager in 2016.
Throughout his career, he had great work ethic and was loved by all his accounts throughout Central Texas. He took his job seriously but enjoyed competing in barbecue cook offs, golf tournaments, and the friendly rivalry between Budweiser and other top brands.
Jimmy was an all around sportsman and learned his skills from his dad. He was an excellent hunter, tracker, shooter, and fisherman. He was an expert marksman with all guns, including compound bows.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, and he also enjoyed competing in local and statewide bass fishing tournaments.
He was a loving husband and son, and a loyal friend who will be deeply missed.
