Mr. Key died Friday, June 16, 2023 at a Burnet hospital.
James Ray Key, Sr. was born on April 12, 1959 in Temple, Texas to the late Travis H. Key, Sr. and Edna Perkins Key. He lived in Temple most of his life. He married Edith Ann Steinert and she preceded him in death on September 8, 2022. James was a self-employed mechanic and owned and operated Key’s Auto. He loved working on older cars, especially hot rods. He loved going to the drag strip to watch the races and restoring classic cars. He also loved fishing, camping and listening to rock and roll music. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Kirk and husband Kyle of Troy; two sons, James Ray Key, Jr. and wife Isabella of Temple and Terry Dean Key of Temple; four grandchildren, Sophia Key, Jaiden Kirk, Dillyn Sneed and Rylan Key; and one great grandchild, Luna Sneed.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, June 22, 2022 at the funeral home.
