James Munger Punchard

James Munger Punchard, Jr. 92, of Temple died Monday August 13, 2018 in Temple.  Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday August 22, 2018 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Punchard was born on January 25, 1926 in Rogers to James M. Punchard, Sr. and Sarah Tapp Punchard.  He was graduated from Rogers High School in 1943 and served as a Radioman 3C in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.  He attended Hieronymus Business School in Temple and worked for the AT & SF Railway for 42 years before his retirement in 1988.  He married Mary Katherine Wiggers on February 14, 1948 in Temple and she preceded him in death on March 1, 2000.  He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Temple and served as a Deacon and on various church committees. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruby Eberhardt, and Maurine Necas and a niece Carolyn Martinec. 

Survivors include three sons Neil and his wife Debbie of Temple; David and his wife Belinda of Cedar Park and Paul of Temple; five grandchildren Rob Punchard, Jaima Abercrombie, Katie McGregor, Jennifer McCasland, and Brandy Smith; eight great grandchildren Ashley and Ethan Hall, Avery and Courtney McCasland, John and Catherine Abercrombie and Logan and Lanie Smith; two nieces Martha Coleman and husband of Crosby, Tx and Toni Shenkir and husband of Temple.

Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 6161 S 5th Street Temple, Texas 76502.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
