James R. (Bubba) Spence

James R. (Bubba) Spence, age 61 of Temple, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Belton. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 21st at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Reed officiating. Private burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery on North Fort Hood. Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. He was born in Gatesville on November 30, 1954 to Ralph Bailey and Janett Poe Spence. He lived in the Central Texas area his entire life. He graduated from Temple High School, Temple Junior College and Texas A&M. He worked in the Purchasing Department at Belton ISD, prior to his employment there he was a route salesman for Lance, Frito Lay and Temple Bottling Company.   James was a man of God, very much a family man, always smiling and very quick witted. He enjoyed his family time immensely, he loved spending time with his nieces, the three of them were the light of his life, to say he was a proud uncle would be an understatement. He cherished his mother and sisters. For those of you that knew him, you know his character of being friendly, witty always trying to make sure everyone else could smile with him. He would brighten up any room he entered with his smile and kindness. He was a hard working man from a very young age, loved to work and tinker with rebuilding things. In our family he was known as Mr. Fix It. He could fix anything. He had a passion for antique tractors. He was preceded in death by his father in 2011, and a sister, Ann Spence in 1993.   Left to cherish his memory, his mother, Janett Spence, sisters Drenda Capps and husband, Willie & Sherry Spence all of Temple, three nieces, Haley and Katey Capps and Karlyn Spence.   Our family wishes to extend our appreciation for your prayers, thoughts and condolences during this difficult time.   In lieu of flowers, family request memorials in his name to BEEF (Belton Enrichment Education Fund) 400 N.
