

James T. Cain, age 72 of Little River-Academy, died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 6, 2014 at Little River United Methodist Church with Rev. Yohan Baek officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will follow at Wilson Valley Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00 PM Monday, October 6, 2014 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Cain was born June 12, 1942 in Holtville, California to the late Leland Cain and Geraldine Whitley Cain. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in Brawley, California in 1960. James was honorably discharged from the Air Force after four years of service. He married Lois Garner at Little River United Methodist Church on May 7, 1966. James served on the Academy School Board and was currently a councilman for the city of Little River/Academy. He was a member the Zerne Masonic Lodge #615 in Holland, Texas. James sold appliances for Sears for over 30 years. He loved sports and was a member of Little River United Methodist Church. James was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lois Cain of Little River; a daughter, Melanie Cain-Calloway and husband James of Spring, Texas; a son, Jason Cain and wife Destany of Temple; two brothers, Joe Cain and wife Gwen of Morgan City, Louisiana and Gerald Cain and wife Mary of Kissimmee, Florida; and six grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Jackson, James, Ian and Mia. Memorials may be given in James' name to the Little River United Methodist Church, 104 N. Kings Trail, Little River, Texas 76554 or to the Wilson Valley Cemetery Association, P.O.
