It was with a grateful heart for the blessings of her long life on earth while looking forward to the joys of the life to come that Jane Haywood, 90, of Temple went to heaven peacefully on March 13, 2025, after a faithful and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Jane was born on February 21, 1935. She grew up in Virginia and Tennessee, graduating from Central High School before adventuring to Texas and attending Baylor University.
Jane reveled in the beauty of words put together well to form meaning about life, whether in great literature or scripture. She enjoyed sharing such wisdom with her beloved Saints & Sinners Sunday school class at First Methodist Church. She had a phenomenal ability to memorize poetry and scripture and could recite her favorites until the very end.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Ray; and her son, Stan. She is survived by her son Steve and her daughter, Lori. In addition, she is blessed with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom she adored.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Haywood Endowed Scholarship at The University of Mary Hardin Baylor, 900 College Street, Box 8409, Belton, Texas 76513, to First Methodist Church, 102 N. Second Street, Temple, Texas 76501, or to the charity of your choice.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025, at First Methodist Church of Temple, Texas.
