

Jerry Talasek, age 68 of Temple, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, October 21st at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Sauser as celebrant. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, October 20th followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Jerry was born July 9, 1948 in Temple to Jerry John Talasek and Della (Jakubec) Talasek. Jerry graduated from Temple High School and attended Sam Houston State University. He spent 47 years as the owner and operator of Kerley’s Meat Market. He is a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 3444, and SPJST Seaton, Lodge 47. Jerry will always be remembered for his continuous smile, friendly customer service, and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He married Rika Gail Williams on February 7, 1969 in Temple. Jerry was a loving and devoted husband to Rika throughout their 47 years of marriage. Jerry will always be remembered by his family as a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Rika Talasek of Temple, daughter Lynette Talasek of Temple, son Keith Talasek and wife Silja of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, granddaughter Zoe Edwards-Talasek of Temple, sister and husband Patricia "Pat" and Bill Proctor of Temple, and three nephews. Pallbearers are Kyle Proctor, Jerry Leigh Proctor, Brady Proctor, Quade Proctor, Gerald Drews, Fernando Flores and Brad Goonan.
