Jimmy "Zoo" Self

Jimmy "Zoo" Self, age 62, of Temple died Friday, February 9, 2007 at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, February 12, at John and Julie Hall's Ranch, Salado, Texas. Burial will be in Alabama. Mr. Self was born June 25, 1944 in Clay, Alabama to Buford Wheeler and Emma Stella Trull Self. He had been a resident of Temple for the past six years. He was a former member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a horse trainer and breeder and an "all-around cowboy". He was a member of the APHA, AQHA and ACHA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Self. Survivors include one daughter, Angel Scott and husband, Casey of Alabaster, Alabama, one son, Clayton Self and wife, Bridgette of Boaz, Alabama and four grandchildren, Mason Scott, Madison, Isabella and Victoria Self. Also surviving are three sisters, Jane Jones of Trussville, Alabama, Elaine Calvin of Illinois, Dede Wood of Hoover, Alabama, two brothers, B. W. Self of Illinois and Rodney Self of Birmingham, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bell County Youth Fair, P.O. Box 1058, Belton, TX 76513.
