John Richard Howell, 84, of Temple died Wednesday May 13, 2009 in a local nursing home. Military graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday May 19, 2009 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with Rev. Darlene Grant officiating. Mr. Howell was born January 25, 1925 in Mattoon, Illinois to Jessie and Wanda Ball Howell. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy. He was a retired carpenter and was a Baptist. Survivors include one daughter, one son, one sister, and his special friend "BJ" and all of his friends at the Veteran Hospital and Regency Manor in Temple.
