Jon Carter Zelisko

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2025, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple, Texas. Burial will follow at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Buckholts, Texas.

Jon was born December 20, 1945, in Temple, Texas, to Arnett and Nadine Zelisko and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Jon graduated from C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas, as Valedictorian of the Class of 1964. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with honors from The University of Texas at Austin in 1969.

Pharmacy was a profession Jon deeply loved. He was a gifted communicator and was dedicated to serving his patients with compassion and integrity. His guiding principle was always, “to do no harm.” His pharmacy career included 30 years with Eckerd Pharmacy, followed by 12 years with Baylor Scott & White.

In 1975, Jon married Shirley Melcher in Temple at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Jon is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley of Temple; his brother, Michael Zelisko and wife Beckie of Rockdale; and sisters- and brothers-in-law Lucille and Jerry Decker of Holland, Joyce and Larry Coufal of Moffat, Janet and Albert Lesikar of Rogers, and brothers-in-law Michael Melcher of Temple, and Ernest Melcher of Thorndale. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
