June Alston

June Alston, age 79, of Troy died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in a local hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 18, at Roberts Cemetery in Troy with Rev. Don Lentz officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Alston was born June 10, 1928 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Luther and Minnie (Fields) Casey. She married J. C. Alston on September 3, 1948. She was a beautician and homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy for over 40 years and was a past member of the former Troy Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Troy Sr. Trojans where she presently served as the treasurer. She was previously a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Beverly Alston Miller and a grandson, Mallory Miller. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, J. C. Alston of Troy, daughter, Karen Granfor and husband, Larry of Troy, four grandchildren, Britt Granfor of Troy, Robin Granfor Brooks and husband, Kevin of Temple, Stacey Miller Short and husband, Rick of Temple and Steven Miller of Killeen, four great-grandchildren, Trey and Lexie Short, Makayla Brooks and Keegan Granfor. Also surviving is one sister, Avis Page of Temple and one brother, Damon Casey of Montgomery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or charity of choice.
