She was raised on a farm in the Stringtown Community until junior high school, when she moved to Temple, Texas. June graduated from Temple High School and attended Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. There she met the love of her life, Wally Eldred. What a striking couple they were…he, the 6’5” star basketball player and she, the 5’2” red-haired beauty from Texas. They returned to Texas, where they started their family with their two daughters, Cindy and Cheri. She was a wife and homemaker, supporting Wally as a rancher and auctioneer. When her children were grown she used her business expertise to become one of Temple’s most respected realtors. Her business was built on referrals from clients who became like family. June was a woman of faith and was an active member at Northside Church of Christ. She was a Girl Scout leader and volunteered at Love of Christ and Heartland Nursing Home. She was the president of the Temple Garden Club and the Temple Country Club Ladies Golf Association. All who knew her admired her for her calm spirit and gentle demeanor. She was a friend to everyone she met. She loved her garden and took great comfort in every part of God’s creation. She even kept journals of all of the interesting garden happenings. Even in her last years as a resident of Cornerstone Gardens, she inspired many with her strength and positive outlook on life. She always had a smile and hug for everyone. June was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Floyd Lawhorn, and her husband, Wally Eldred. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Lawrence and husband, John of Atlanta, GA and Cheri Payne and husband, Bob of Phoenix, AZ, five grandchildren Kathryn Canada and husband, Jeff, Joseph Lawrence, Jess Payne and wife, Alyssa, Stacey Payne, and Stephanie Payne and one great-grandchild, Kaden Canada.
