

Born on July 6, 1960 in South Haknek, Alaska, Katie was the beloved daughter of Nicholas Henry Peterson and Pauline (Olgen) Williams Peterson. She spent her life cherishing the simple joys that come from family, friendship, and laughter.
On July 5, 2025, Katie married the love of her life, Daniel Sanchez, after nearly seven years together. Their marriage was the culmination of a devoted relationship built on companionship, affection, and shared happiness.
Katie was known for her vibrant personality and joyful spirit. She loved spending time with family and friends, whether visiting, sharing stories, or enjoying a game of Bingo. She had a special fondness for sparkly, “blingy” things that reflected her bright and cheerful nature. Her warm smile, sense of humor, and genuine kindness made her a joy to be around and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nicholas Henry Peterson; her mother, Pauline (Olgen) Williams Peterson; brothers, John Mathew Peterson, Gustav Nicholas Peterson, and Earl Gene Peterson; and sisters, Georgia Nina Farnsworth, Mary Ann Caddell, and Dorothy Eugene Davis.
Katie leaves behind her loving husband, Daniel Sanchez of Temple; her children, Walter Boston, Felecia Boston, Robert Boston, and Christopher Boston, all of Alaska; and her stepchildren, Daniel Sanchez, Jr. and wife Brandy of Morgan’s Point Resort, Texas, Erica Banks and husband Andrew of Temple, Texas, J.C. Sanchez of Dallas, Texas, Callie Carreno and husband Daniel of Fairfield, Texas, and Chalissa and Garith Russell of Texarkana, Texas.
She is also survived by her brothers, Alec Emil Peterson and Samuel Allen Peterson of Alaska; her sister and brother-in-law, Traffie and Betty Mae Traffin of Alaska; along with numerous grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, Temple, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 22, 2026, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Katie’s sparkling spirit, loving heart, and joyful presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
