Steven was born on August 30, 1951 in Stamford, Texas to the late Kenneth and Nellie Hoppe Wadsworth. He lived in both Bangs and Temple, Texas, and was a graduate of Bangs High School. He later attended Temple Junior College. On July 2, 1977, he married Vicki Vaughan in Temple, beginning a marriage and a life together centered around family.
Steven spent more than 50 years working in concrete and limestone sales, building a long and respected career through his knowledge of the industry and the relationships he developed along the way. He also believed in giving back to his community and served for 25 years on the board of the Children’s Rehabilitation Center.
While Steven took pride in his career and community involvement, there was never any question about what mattered most to him—his family. He loved being wherever they were and rarely needed a reason for everyone to get together. Whether he was watching his children and grandchildren play sports, enjoying time around the family pool, or traveling together, Steven treasured simply having his family close.
He especially enjoyed family trips to the beach and Colorado. Among his treasured memories was traveling to Europe to watch his son play soccer. He often spoke of the beautiful sunflower fields he saw there and what an unforgettable experience the trip had been.
Steven was also an avid sportsman and sports fan. He loved fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed going to Houston Astros games. Some of his happiest times were spent in the stands watching his children and grandchildren compete, always proud to be there supporting them.
Steven is survived by his wife, Vicki Vaughan Wadsworth; daughter, Shelley Jean, and granddaughter, Austyn Jean; son, Justin Wadsworth and wife Mamie, and grandson, Brock; son, Clay Wadsworth and wife Arika; and sister, Kay Birkholz.
