Laura Oliver

Laura Oliver, 84, of Troy died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at a residence in Troy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rodger Weems and H. K. Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Oliver was born January 8, 1924 in Bottoms, Texas to Benjamin and Pearl Dockery Ford. She was a graduate of Troy High School in 1940. She married Allen Benson Oliver on May 20, 1943 in Troy he died April 30, 1986. She was a member of the Troy Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Winnett; three brothers, Frank Ford, Charlie Ford, and Harlan Ford; a grandchild, A. J. McLearen. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Oliver and wife Lanette of Troy, Bruce Oliver and wife Patti of Georgetown, Royce Oliver and wife Diane of Temple, and Lawrence Oliver and wife Debbie of Livingston; three daughters, Jill McLearen and husband Jay of Hewitt, Billie Ruth Clinard and husband Gilbert of Temple, and Sherry Reed and husband Wilson of Troy; one brother, Roy Ford of Temple; two sisters, May Greenway of Oneaville and Bennie Oliver of Bridgeport; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
