Laurin T Gaines

Funeral services for Laurin T. (Gaino) Gaines, 83 of Temple, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Scanio Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Mesa officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Gaines died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Gaines was born in Temple to Walter Gaines and Nora Pearl Smith Gaines. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Dorothy Chervenka September 21, 1956. He lived in Temple his entire life. He earned an Associate Degree from Temple Junior College. He worked for the Postal Service for thirty three years and then operated the southside contract Post Office for several years. He was a member of SPJST #47 of Seaton and was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church. Mr. Gaines was preceded in death by two brothers Walter H. Gaines and Erwin Gaines. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Gaines of Temple; two sons Hal Martin and Steve T. Gaines both of Temple; six grandchildren Kelly Martin, Tyler Martin, Adam Martin, Kelsey Martin, Chris Gaines and Matt Gaines; and two great grandchildren Kris Martin and Kayla Martin; one niece Carolyn Mees of Austin. Memorials may be made to Oak Park United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Scott and White Hospice. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Scanio Harper Funeral Home.
