

Laverne Adams, 84, of Temple, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church with the Reverend Pat Dietrich officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church before the service beginning at 9:00 am. Laverne was born on September 21, 1927 to Henry and Annie Hampe in Clifton, Texas. She married Frederick Deibert in 1949 and they had 8 children before his death in 1960. She married Leon Adams in 1981, he passed away in 2006. Laverne had a college education, was a Master Gardner; enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening, crocheting, quilting, meeting new people, baking, reading, and Nascar Racing. She passed to her family her love of life-long learning. Instilled in her family her Christian virtues and values - they lived their lives as Christians and showed their love by being there for each other and doing what they could to help one another. Her wisdom and strength were shared with her friends. She was always volunteering to help others in her community. She lived by three laws, the laws of God, the laws of society, and the rules of her house - not necessarily in that order. In 2010 Laverne wrote a book of her life titled, Laverne's Odyssey, the closing statement is "My favorite thing in the world was raising my Children". She was preceded in death by her daughter, Yvette Marshall and brother, Arnold Hampe. She is survived by her children Clayton Deibert and wife Florence of Temple; Michael Deibert and wife Joyce of Austin; Sue Faught of Battle Ground, WA; Claire Alford and husband Stephen of Southlake; Donna Gaisbauer of St Louis, MO; Fred Deibert and wife Pat of Youngsport; and William Deibert and wife Karla of Lewisville; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Siblings Clara Zuehlke of Clifton, Oscar Hampe of Clifton, Alice Willmann of Clifton, Lydia Knust of Clifton, Louise Oswald and husband JC of San Saba and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Children's Home, P.O. Box 295, San Saba, TX 76877.
