

Funeral services for LaWanda Sparks, 88, of Rogers will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Rogers with Rev. Billy Ray Crow and Dr. Allen Raynor officiating. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery. Mrs. Sparks died Monday in a Temple Living Center. Mrs. Sparks was born in Rogers November 26, 1925 to Elmer H. Weaver and Clara Ashby Weaver. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1943. She married Barney Sparks September 22, 1944. He preceded her in death August 26, 1989. She began her career at J.M. Dyer Company in the Shoe Department. She then worked at French Bootery, Goldstein-Migel and Hal's Bootery before opening J & L Hushpuppies which later became J & L Shoes and Apparel. She retired December 31, 2006. She was member of First Baptist Church in Rogers. Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by one sister Louise Sparks. Survivors include her son Bill Sparks of Georgetown; her daughter Carolyn Morgan of Rogers; one sister Gene Riddle of Malakoff; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
