
Leonard F. Pelzel, age 90 of Troy, formerly of Burlington, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at a local care center. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Bellwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00pm Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Leonard was born on February 2, 1925 in Wilson, Texas to the late Joe Pelzel and Bertha Stork Pelzel. He attended schools in Rosebud. Leonard enlisted in the Army in 1943 at the age of 17 and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Leonard married Selma Folschinsky in Cameron, Texas. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing dominos. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild, Jennifer Pelzel. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Brown and husband Houston of Temple and Jeanie Kirk and husband Stanley of Troy; a son, Alan Pelzel and wife Kathy of Troy; six grandchildren, Alan Brown, Russell Brown, Kristi Penny, Kyle Kirk, Jessica Doskocil and Allison Pelzel; 12 great grandchildren, Parker Brown, Emily Brown, Tyler Ann Brown, Ryan Brown, Cassidy, Brown, Garrett Penny, Grayson Penny, Dillyn Sneed, Jaiden Kirk, Collin Doskocil, Brenden Doskocil and Makinley Doskocil; and by a special friend, Elsie Carlson.
