Leonard Logan Janke, age 94, of the Val Verde Community passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at a local care center. He was born on June 10th, 1928 in Milam County the son of John Walter and Annie Matilda (Schneider) Janke.
A visitation will take place on Monday, December 26th, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am at St. John Lutheran Church, 30650 State Highway 95, Bartlett, Texas 76511 with Pastor Jeremy Ullrich officiating.
Leonard married Helen Janell Noack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albany, Texas on February 14, 1954.
He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett where he was a former member of the church council, lifelong farmer/rancher in the Val Verde Community, he served on the board of the Milam County FHA and former director of the Belfalls Electric Coop. Leonard served his country in the United States Army and was a former member of the American Legion Post 526 in Holland, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of Val Verde, children, Sharlet Sladecek and husband Mike of Morgans Point Resort, Brandon Janke and wife Debi of Rogers and Jane Motl and husband Dale of Temple, 5 grandchildren, Jared Sladecek, Kris Janke and wife Courteney, Kody Janke and wife Lauren, Stephanie Walden and husband Danny, and Jennifer Motl, and 9 great-grandchildren, Melynnie Sladecek, Lane & Aubrie Janke, Gracie, Danaleigh, Reese & Robert Walden, Layton Davis, & Landon Janke.
Leonard is also survived by a sister Arlene Schwarz and a brother Eugene Janke and wife Rose.
In lieu of flowers memorials to St. John Lutheran Cemetery, 30650 State Highway 95, Bartlett, TX 76511 would be appreciated.
