Linda was born on December 15, 1946, in Robinson, Texas. She was the daughter of William Harvey Harper and Vera Alene (Hufstetler) Harper. She attended schools in Robinson and Temple, where she developed the strong values and lifelong friendships that remained with her throughout her life.
In November 1966, Linda married the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Kunkel. Together, they shared a remarkable marriage built on faith, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their 55 years together were filled with cherished memories, family, and a shared passion for horses.
Linda had a lifelong love of horses and the western lifestyle. She was an active member of both the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. Together, Linda, Kenn, and Kacey dedicated countless hours to breeding, raising, and showing exceptional horses, earning the distinction of raising numerous World Champion horses. The friendships they formed and the memories they made through the horse industry were among the greatest joys of Linda’s life. Professionally, Linda was a dedicated Payroll/AP Administrator for Cloud Construction, where she faithfully served for 33 years. She was known for her strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to doing her job with excellence.
Above all else, Linda’s greatest pride was her family. She had a warm, outgoing personality, never met a stranger, and made everyone she encountered feel welcome. She found joy in gathering with family and friends, celebrating life’s milestones, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Her kindness, sense of humor, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.
Linda is survived by her devoted daughter, Kacey Allison, and husband, Todd Allison, of Salado; her beloved grandsons, Kolten Pond of Georgetown and Ryan Allison of Salado; her granddaughter, Lauren Allison of Salado; her sister, Nancy Straka, and husband, Robert Straka, of Temple; niece Jenny Cade and husband Matt, and nephew James Straka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey Harper and Vera Alene (Hufstetler) Harper, and her husband, Kenneth Wayne Kunkel.
Linda’s legacy is one of faith, love, hard work, and compassion. Whether in the show arena, at work, or at home surrounded by family, she lived a life filled with purpose and grace. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
