
Lloyd D. Furl, age 73 of Temple, died Friday, April 11, 2014 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 15, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Popelka officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Furl was born February 23, 1941 to D. Furl and Inis B. Allen Furl. He graduated from Temple High School in 1959. He served with the Army National Guard. He married his high school sweetheart, Marcia Lea Kunkel on July 16, 1960. He worked as a pipe fabricator at Southwest Fabricators in Houston for 27 years. He also worked for Pasadena (Texas) ISD transportation department for 15 years. They were residents of Pasadena for over 40 years. They moved back to Temple in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Furl and one sister, Frances Avery. Survivors include his wife, Marcia Lea Furl of Temple, three daughters, Lisa McNeill and husband, Scott of Houston, Kimberly Shepherd and husband, Stormy of Mont Belvieu and Denise Mann and husband, Bill of Baytown and five grandchildren, Jake Shepherd and wife, Kate, Sara Shepherd, Lindsey McNeill, Samantha McNeill and Reagan Mann and two great-grandchildren, Linda and Lane Shepherd. Also surviving is one sister, Beth Walker of Fort Worth and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Bill Mann, Stormy Shepherd, Scott McNeill, Joe Avery, Bartie Kielman and Les Mechler. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Avery and Bob Avery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
