

Lorine E. Melcher, age 87 of Temple, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at a local care center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 6, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Wilbern Michalk and Pastor Dana Wilhelmsen officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Melcher was born on April 16, 1926 in Lee County to Oscar Martin and Ida Alma Herzog Schneider. She grew up and attended school in Fedor. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. She married Frederick G. Melcher on January 19, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. Frederick and Lorine moved their family from the Paige area to Temple in October, 1955. She was a retired homemaker. She ironed for the public for many years and was a childcare provider before her retirement. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Richard Schneider of Fedor and sisters, Betty Boes of Austin and Eleanor Friedrich of Lincoln. Survivors include two sons, Ernest Melcher and wife, Cindy of Thorndale and Michael Melcher of Temple, four daughters, Lucille Decker and husband, Jerry of Holland, Joyce Coufal and husband, Larry of Moffat, Shirley Zelisko and husband, Jon of Temple, Janet Lesikar and husband, Albert of Rogers, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Meta Melcher of Houston, Elsie Handrick of Georgetown, Frieda Boriack of Lincoln, Delores Shannon and husband, Donnie of Arlington and one brother, Willibald Schneider of Lincoln.
