She attended Moody schools where she was a cheerleader, played alto saxophone, was drum major in the marching band, was a Texas Angus Association Princess, and participated in 4H, FHA, and many other activities. She found her work home at Barge Properties, where she served as its Controller for 20 years. Lu Ann enjoyed the outdoors, be it riding her horses as a young girl or later watching over her Angus cattle, and any creative projects she could get her hands on. She supported her daughter Kaitlin in all kinds of extracurricular activities over the years, and more recently particularly enjoyed the role of grandma “Honey” to her granddaughter Ellie.
Lu Ann was preceded in death by her parents and older sister Lana Frantz. Lu Ann is survived by her daughter Kaitlin Popelka and granddaughter Ellie; niece Amanda Frantz; brother Gary Schmidt, wife Sharon, and family; and brother David Schmidt, wife Debbie, and family.
